So normally I’d be posting some August goal roundups and September goals (those will be coming!) but I didn’t post any August goals because I needed this month to be a “step back” sorta month. Lots of changes in our household that came a little outta nowhere! I was praying hard about them, but also kinda had resigned myself to the fact that we’d be spending a few more months in the “wilderness” so to speak! So that’s good, but also took some time to get real with God and my heart and make the adjustments out of a place of Peace (because we’ve got the Prince of Peace on our side y’all!)
So yeah… my only real August goal was “Intentional Anniversary Weekend!” And then a few weekly and daily goals in my Powersheets, but nothing too over the top “hustle-esque”.
And to be completely honest…my whole Summer Bucket List didn’t even get all that much checked off of it! I’ve mentioned that we had a lot of change come out of nowhere this month…that’s because all summer we were in limbo waiting to hear back about jobs and things for the hubs, and trying not to stress about the whole possibility of moving across the state on a moment’s notice! Anyone else feel like summer flew by and you’ve got like zero idea where all the days actually went?! Yeah! Me too!!
So I’m going to share a few of my favorites from this summer and some updates on what’s happening in this crazy awesome fall season God has started to reveal to me/our little family!
Powersheets – obviously! I posted my review here, and I truly, truly love them. I have a slightly different “system” for them than many people do, I add & subtract my own pages at times but it works for me. My Powersheets have allowed me the time and space to get SUPER honest with myself and the hubs (and God of course) this month. I’ve been brutally honest at times, worked through some stuff I didn’t even know I needed to, and gotten more honest with my vision, calling and priorities!
Heart Made Whole book by Christa Black Gifford – so…I just mentioned things that I’ve had to work on in my head & heart that I didn’t even really know I needed to work on…mmhmm! This book was the reason for that! I’ll definitely write more about this in the next few weeks, but long story short, I realized I was actually mad at God for many things over the last few years. They’ve been HARD y’all, like I feel I’ve aged at least 10 years. But He’s got a great purpose for all of it, of course! Yet I realized I wasn’t always willing to obey God or listen to Him fully because I was mad at him for some of the failures I’ve had over the years, for some of the heartbreaks I’ve had…etc. Basically I was disappointed, mad, exhausted over things and I felt God has broken some promises to me, so I would often only do 50% of what I felt Him asking me to do…and you can imagine how this has worked out! But I didn’t even REALIZE I was doing this! Christa’s book is truly amazing, highly recommend!
Wild & Free Book – Another book, but it’s one I just cannot stop reading & rereading. The message is simple, we’ve all had moments where we felt like too much for people, but also not enough too. BUT this book attacks those lies with straight Truth about Whose we are! We are DAUGHTERS, ambassadors, co-heirs and friends of God, so let’s start living like it! Go grab a copy for all the women in your life.
Another book – Slipstream Time Hacking by Ben Hardy, a nerdy book about business + personal development! It’s not exactly the same ol’ same ol’ book we’ve all read 1000 times just with different authors. Trust me, it’s worth the skim this weekend while you’re traveling, relaxing, on the beach, etc!
On Demand Workouts – Loving this! I’ll totally admit this summer I’ve been all over the place with workouts, I’ve certainly been active! My in-laws poor greyhound has gone on more walks and hikes when we go visit than she knows what to do with! Ha! Sometimes she wouldn’t even get off the couch and she’d make me go by myself! And also the Barre workouts I have loved for the last few years have had some major changes that I wasn’t really into…so that left me kinda floundering for workouts. Many days I’d just sit there and look on Youtube for 20 minutes to find a good workout video…and then I’d only have 15 minutes to actually workout. Oy vey! Then I borrowed Piyo and started running 2-3 days a week and Piyo three times and boom, awesome results! I HATE that floundering feeling of “what do I do today…?!” Now I’m loving the workouts on demand, on my laptop, phone or even my Apple TV!
Last but not least – my new motto…Get comfy, being uncomfy! By this I mean, telling my comfort zone it’s evicted from my day to day life and learning to love change and living outside my comfort zone! This also means a lot of new things for business projects and even life projects (buying an income property…eek! Crazy/stressful/exciting!) To be honest, this idea & process behind it are nerve wracking, but also, I’m just SO tired of living 50% of what God has for me and worrying about what other people think the other 50% of the time or living in fear ALL the time…not worth it! So let’s live a little wild, and a whole lot more free shall we?!
Part of this whole getting comfy being outside my comfort zone thing means that I’m trying new things I’d like never do normally, like a new dance workout in September! And I’m also creating a little workout accountability group too. I know how easy it is to get bored with workouts and let things slide, or make everything else a priority so it falls through the cracks! I’ve been there off & on for YEARS! The best bonus for this though? If you sign up to join us by the 31st (tomorrow!) and you track workouts & nutrition on the provided app, you’ll get cash! Really, everyone that meets the requirements in the tracking app will be given cold hard cash, could be $10 could be $100. We won’t know until we know who’s actually finished the challenge, but still – how cool is that?! If you want to join us and undo some of the iffy habits we’ve all had this summer, email me or send me a message on Facebook and I’ll get you started right away!
Also – today on my Facebook page I posted a really great live video I’d love for you to watch if you’ve got 10 minutes! It’s a really important lesson I’m learning lately (and pretty much all day every day for the rest of my life!) And I have to say….allowing myself to be fully intentional and be just FULLY who God wired me to be, it’s pretty awesome & freeing!
I am also really excited to share with y’all upcoming projects, blog posts, videos, tons of freebies (yay!) and more. That’s why I shared this on FB live today y’all, if I don’t stay in that intentional space walking with God, even when it feels crappy, I am unable to create all these wonderful things that help thousands of people dig deep in their faith, find their callings, and actually make a GOOD living from them too. Not living intentionally is choosing a lack of freedom for both myself, my family (and future family) and also all the people that are in my “tribe” or will be in the future. And that’s not to say I’m super awesome and y’all need to follow me and do everything I say and yada yada, I am not one of those online “gurus’!! Actually, I’m talking about how we all need to do this together, as one tribe, a sisterhood, because it’s about all of us growing into more of who God made us to be, not who’s making more money than the other person or any other marker.
Let’s run the race together loves! Stick around for some really fun new stuff coming up, and never, ever give up on the intentional life & calling God has for you, He paid too high a price for you to forfeit it all to FEAR!
With love & blessings,
