Today’s mindset Monday post is short & sweet…but OH so important love! Truly!
Don’t forget to fill up your own cup, so you can poor into others!

This really is 1000% necessary to continue to follow God, chase our purpose and serve others well! Remember as entrepreneurs (and as mom’s, wives, sisters, friends…etc) we are just creating products and services to SERVE our Father’s other kids…and getting paid for it! (Well, unfortunately not really as a mom or wife, but the business part yes! ha!)
It’s that exact reason I have to write this today! If you don’t fill up your own cup you will not be able to continue to pour out into others well…it leads to burnout, health issues, quitting businesses and more! I’ve seen it so many times. And to be honest I’ve BEEN THERE so many times!
But here’s the other trick I’ve learned the hard way…it’s not just about taking a day off here and there or making a green smoothie every morning. It’s so much more than that…which can seem annoying in our already super busy lives…but again, it’s essential! Yes I’m often slightly annoyed at how high maintenance some of my health routines are…but without them I’m pretty much useless as a biz owner, my ADD and depression take right over! And as a wife, well…you can guess I’m not that much fun to live with sometimes if I don’t honor my health! #reallife
1. Physical Health
This is often what we think of when we say “fill up your cup”, we think things like eating healthy and working out. And of course these are HUGE! I know for me, a huge thing is working out most mornings before work (it’s like my version of ritalin!) but I’ve also noticed that I’ve been in such a “diet” or weightloss mindset (and yet also a super unhealthy eating pattern of just junk) since I was 9 years old…so I often do not eat enough in a day! Especially when I’m busy working from home, I forget to eat. That has contributed to some health problems, as well as loosing my hair and having it grow slow….ly! AND making my depression & ADD worse. So for me, I know sleep, eating enough (good stuff!) taking a few key supplements and also working out 4-5 days a week are essential! What may those physical health things be for you?
2. Mental Health
This does play into physical health of course…but it’s also important to note separately! How are you doing on not allowing your feelings & emotions to be dictators in your life?! (I honestly need to work on this SO much!) Are you holding in emotions instead of working through them? Etc. For me, taking care of my mental health means working on things like emotions…but often through spiritual health and physical health (ie, prayer and working through things while on a run for example.) But still…it’s majorly important! Reflect a little bit on last week right now love…did you make some time for your mental health? Whatever that means for you!
3. Spiritual Health
If you participated in our last challenge on Facebook (join the next one here!) I made it a point to talk about spiritual health before any of the other more ‘traditional” topics….why? Because I genuinely believe this is where health starts. Think about it, every single culture or tribe has had their own religious or spiritual beliefs…so it’s a huge foundation for us as humans! No matter what you believe…I’m not here to make sure you believe what I believe, not even close love! You do you! However, I will talk about Jesus till I run out of air (and y’all…I like to talk! ha!) But here’s the thing…no matter what you believe spiritually, if you don’t carve out time for it, you’re basically skipping leg day! Those little “muscles” will atrophy and you’ll end up weak in a very important area!
For me, this can mean several different things each day. It’s not all about spending like 5 hours reading scripture and commentaries and dropping big theological words to make myself sound cool! ha! Sometimes it’s honestly just sitting with a worship song on, closing my eyes and asking God for some help today because it’s a little nuts! And yes, some days it is hours in scripture too! My point – I make something spiritual a priority every day! And to be honest, today it’s my fav new worship song on repeat as I work, plus a little Holy Yoga this morning as my workout today and then reading the Bible app verse that sits on the notifications screen on my iPhone…not fancy, not even ideal honestly! But it’s all I had time for so far today and hey, a sentence of scripture still sparked a great lesson for me and got me a little closer to where I want to be in life…so hey! Works for me, and tomorrow may be an hour in the Word doing a cool study…God only knows! haha!
4. Relational health
As I posted on Instagram the other day, my depression has stolen SO much from my businesses and my life over the last 10 or so years I’ve struggled with it off and on. I have so much to tell on that…and I’ll hopefully have a blog series on it sometime soon, maybe not until the new year, but it’s simmering on my heart! BUT – after that and fighting it with the 3 things I’ve talked about above….the next thing thats totally taken a toll on my has been relationships! Prioritizing them so they stay healthy…it’s certainly not easy! But it does fill up my cup SO much. And I realize it’s a little odd to put this last on the list of ways to fill up your cup so you can then pour into others…as in our relationships. But it is full circle, just like most things in life! Sometimes life gets so busy & stressful it’s hard for me to be intentional with the hubs, let alone my other friends and family! (And I live with him…and half the time we work together too! ha!) BUT – again, it usually fills up my cup if I play the cards right. So today darling…think of one loved one you can intentionally love on a little better today? Send a thoughtful text? Write a thank you note? Call your mom or grandma? Often by serving, we gain too!
Love…I hope this helped you today! If it did, can you share it with someone else who could use a little “cup filling” and stress help?
with love & blessings,
