Oh, 2016…where do I begin…well for one thing, my word for the year was THRIVE – and boy did that not work out as I thought it would! (Does it EVER?!?! …insert a string of emojis here…)
This year was filled with so much just, stuff. Crap. Hardship. You name it…
The year before our family word was “rebuilding“. And yet, I learned that in order to “rebuild” things had to be torn down first…I mean makes sense in a Fixer Upper sort of way right?! #demoday!!
Well, I thought there really wasn’t much more “demo days” to be done…boy was I wrong!!
This year my health declined even further at times. Remember, I gained over 30 pounds in 2014 right before our wedding! And have struggled with chronic illnesses like endo + a mysterious skin disease that sucks.
This year our marriage got so much worse than I thought it could have gotten… But then healing came! I’ve never shared this publically, only with a handful of family + friends, but it’ll be something I will talk about and teach on as much as I can this year.
And to be honest…almost ALL goals went straight out the window!
It was truly a year of learning to leave survival mode. That’s where I’ve been living for 26 years and I really felt God pushing me and stretching me to learn how to grow out of that!
And yeah…crazy enough I’m so freaking grateful for that! Last year I worked endlessly (and it’s still not 100%!) on both a new vision casting process & a new workbook on finding your calling and who God made you to be that is SO near and dear to my heart! Truly some of my “life work” right there!
This year meant breaking up with goals, closing down every single business except this one, and even closing up shop on many of the income streams and projects I had in this business. Which wasn’t super fun for me, but God y’all. It worked out so well because it really forced me to dig deep into how God actually wired me to love, serve, create and do business well! It was a blow to my ego + pride that was for sure!
At the end of it all, I’ve learned that we cannot truly thrive in life until we know who we are and WHOSE we are…and learn to seek that instead of seeking stuff in the world. Another course, a new car, reading 52 books this year?? Those things will probably not be the game changers you’re looking for! Sorry love! It’s true because I’ve lived it for SO long and it broke me into a million little pieces over the last few years. Please hear me out on this, knowledge is good, reading is good, and all that jazz! HOWEVER – if you catch yourself saying stuff along the lines of I’m doing/buying XYZ to “finally make things work this time”… you’re 99% of the time off the mark and you’ll only find what you need if you look inward to the place you and the Spirit collide.
Hate me if you want for that…I know it won’t go over well with some, and I’m okay with that. But it is 1000% my truth that I have fought bloody hard for over the last few years. These years have almost swallowed me whole…so I will fight like crazy to share my story + testimony in 2017 to help others who are going through similar things. Because I know many of us are, and so often we feel like we just need to “fix” ourselves! Buy the new thing, take the course, hire the coach, take the trip, etc. That’ll surely “fix” everything right?! Nope… Nope!
Okay to be fair…I really planned on this post being about 2 paragraphs long! #Sorrynotsorry y’all!
So onto some Bizness coming up! I have a lot up my sleeve for the next few weeks and months. To be honest it’s that kind of excitement that is also sheer terror and the slight possibility of peeing my pants thrown in there too! haha!
So without further ado…I want to invite you to two fun things!
#1 – My yearly reader survey! So you can fill out any or all of this survey if you’d like, but if you leave your email I personally promise to email you back over the next week or so! Truly, not strings attached! Consider it free “jumpstart your year” email coaching! OR if you’re reading this via your inbox already, just hit “reply” and tell me about your year this year, and/or goals for 2017…pretty much anything goes!
Fun fact, I actually used to offer email & chat based coaching back when I first graduated coaching school and worked mostly with college students and their parents on choosing majors/career paths/first jobs, etc. I was basically a mediator between the art majors and their lawyer/doctor/accountant parents! ha! It was kinda fun, though!
#2 – I’m hosting a faith-filled yoga challenge via a Facebook group and online streaming workouts next week! I’m currently almost done with a 3-week yoga challenge I gave myself as a way to workout over Christmas in a way that “active rest” like because I was nursing a sprain, and as a way to connect with God to clear some junk out of my heart before the new year hit. And man has it been FRUITFUL!! Click here to join us if you’d like! Remember: It’s free!
with love & blessings,
