(Aka Boss Lady Tools of the Trade!!)
Website + Tech Stuff
A Small Orange Hosting – seriously THE BEST + Least expensive I’ve found in over 8 years building biz websites! They even helped me get my site back online after it crashed for a week! Lifesavers!
Genesis Framework + Child Themes – Literally THE best, I’ve tried a lot of premium and free themes, and none are as easy and simple to customize and look as PRO as Genesis themes can! The only things to grace my websites for the last 2+ years! 😉
Restored316 Designs – Also a GREAT place to get Genesis Child Themes if you’re looking for something a little more feminine or less modern-more chic, is Restored316 Designs. Lauren is WONDERFUL, her designs are something else and she loves God, family + small business, my values exactly! <3 My favorite’s of Lauren’s Designs- Style Theme and Novelty Theme.
Creative Market – This is the best site to get really awesome fonts, stock photos, graphics and more! BUT my favorite is smaller designers sell Genesis Child themes that are slightly less popular and also often more in line with what you’re looking for – here are some of my favorites: Coastal by Station Seven, Montfort by DinosaurStew and Miri Theme by For Creativepreneurs. I also love ordering font bundles like this one, or this one! Such a great value to improve your designs with!
Trello – The BEST phone app/web app for organizing ideas, being a biz boss and a content creation BOSS! Truly! I use it to organize pretty much every single aspect of my business and LIFE! (Yes we even used it to plan our wedding!)
Fiverr – For outsourcing little things like graphics, small web design & technology related tasks, Virtual Assistants for 1-2 hours of research & other things, logo design, ebook formatting (especially good for Amazon authors!) and much more! I hugely recommend this, it’s where I dipped my toes into outsourcing years ago and I still use it often! (It’s called Fiverr because all serviced start at only $5 and then go up to pretty pro-level packages. But seriously – $5!! So cool!)
Latergramme – Instagram organization + scheduling, such a time saver + life saver! I only use it a few times a week but it’s really helpful so I can remember to post a few things that are really important. I usually post most things through the app traditionally, but this has really made a difference in my social media marketing!
Learning + Education
Skillshare – One of my favorite places to take short classes, either business related, or something totally different like a craft or cooking project to turn my brain off on the weekends! 😉 (Bonus points if you take one of my classes on Skillshare too! ha!)
(Because…I mean…Cute stuff & tools to “adult” well is important too right?!)
Zazzle– My absolutely favorite place to order pretty much everything, clothes, gifts, photo decorations & accessories, Christmas cards, even our wedding invites! Is Zazzle! Hands down! And they’re always having fantastic sales that can’t be beat, and adding more products all the time! Skateboards? Check. Phone cases? Check. Custom Business Cards? Check! Custom Wrapping Paper? YES! Crazysauce, but it’s true!
FashionABLE – If you’ve been around my site & social media for a while, you know I’m obsessed with giving back, especially in sustainable ways like creating jobs for women & men in developing countries so they can provide education & health care for their families and create a better world all around them – FashionAble does this so well, and their stuff is to die for! (Also, watch the documentary Poverty Inc to learn more about this!)
MixBook – One of my biggest goals for our future as a family is to order more photobooks for our kids to look through years from now! We’ve been married over a year and I still don’t have a photobook of our wedding made, sadly! ha! I’m working on it though, and Mixbook is my FAVORITE place to make them & order them. We ordered one after our kitten was killed to remember her by, it was over 40 pages, almost 1,000 photos (yes I know…I’m a crazy furmama!) and it was only about $40! I cannot wait to see what their online scrapbook software does to our wedding pics! Finally! 😉
Ps. They also do really fun Instagram style 5×5 photos prints, which make a super fun mini-gallery wall!
ThredUp – The worst thing ever is having a TON of stuff, but nothing that’s really sparking more joy and creativity in your life. I’ve been there, overloaded with junk. It seriously drains your energy! I love sending stuff to ThredUp and also buying stuff from there (Hello DVF dress for only $80! With tags! Say what?!) It’s so much easier than Ebay, and usually pays much more than my local consignment stores do (and sometimes those old ladies are MEAN! #truth) My referral link gives you a $20 credit after your first order!
(Sometimes the hardest part of Adulting right?! 😉
Digit App – Raise your hand if you hate budgeting?! (ME!!) What we’ve started to do in 2016 in our house is what we call the “Robinhood” plan, we can’t really do budgeting like the old fashioned Dave Ramsey way becuase we have such variable monthly incomes and also expenses (one month we’re home 100% of the time, the next we’re home for only 3 days and we’re traveling…so nothing is ever the same!) Yet with the “Robinhood plan” we “steal” from ourselves using the Digit app which just takes small amounts from your checking every few days into a separate savings account. It’s FDIC insured like regular banks. We’ve saved hundreds already! (Plus they text you your bank balance every morning which is also super helpful!)
Qapital App – Very similar to Digit as well, but this is where you can set specific financial goals and have the same “Robinhood” type thing apply where it will round up every purchase from your linked checking to the nearest dollar, or whatever you set up, and add it to your savings goals. We also have it set up through Ifttt to pay us when we do things like workout, check certain things off our Reminders app, etc. This is helping us keep such a great visual of our finances which really motivates us, it’s like “gamifying” our finances, spend as little as possible, save when we do spend, and then make as much as we can too. So much more motivating then our parent’s old fashioned ways! 😉
Ebates – Gosh y’all I LOVE this tool! I used it for all my Black Friday shopping from my pj’s on the couch Christmas shopping last year (they have super crazy deals that whole weekend!!) True story – doing 80% of my shopping through this app I earned about 40% of my Christmas present budget BACK in a check in the mail in January! Really! (Side note: Most of the links on this page have cash back options through Ebates, even places to buy domain names, and definitely places to treat yo’ self! 😉 Just sign up and download the plugin/browser extension so you don’t miss any cash back ops!)
