Oh 2014… you were a tough one.
A huge part of me wants to skip this post for the series. I just want to sweep 2014 under the rug and pretend like it wasn’t so bad and just push forward hoping & praying this year is way, way better.
However, I realized a few nights ago that this isn’t a very wise way to go into 2015.
Last year was tough, no doubt about it.
I didn’t really meet any of my detail type goals like money, business or health goals. (And in some cases FAR from them.)
But 2014 was not, in any way, shape or form, a waste.
I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I knew the struggles of 2014 had a reason.
But what I didn’t really realize until recently was that there were more reasons than I even knew.
Soooo many long-standing goals, prayers, worries and fears were tackled in 2014.
Many of these were 4-5 years in the making.
Actually, if I’m being honest, some were more than a decade of prayers and dreams I thought were kind of a lost cause. (Hello getting married! Never thought that would actually happen…seriously!)
I can say with honesty that I now love 2014 for what it was.
And just last week I was freaking out to friends that I didn’t want 2015 to be a repeat of 2014!!
While there’s still some truth to that (I hope I learned those lessons well enough to not repeat them, and I hope I meet at least most of my detailed goals.)
The bottom line?
2014 was the year of my people. (And really, every year is the year of my people!)
If those “big rocks” (click to watch the video explaining) are good, then I’m good with all the details, even if they’re far from what I wanted.
Nothing is ever going to be perfect, there will always be something. And I do really want to set purposeful goals this year that I can rock out of the park…but, my people are the big rocks, the detail type goals are the smaller pieces.
If at the end of 2015, none of my goals have really gone anywhere, but my marriage and other relationships have been given the best I’ve got…then it’s a WIN in the books. Hands down!
Your action step: Celebrate 2014, and not just the highlight reel, the REAL parts that truly will matter when you’re 80!
Need some help planning out your goals for 2015? I’ll be continuing this blog series over the next week or so, but if you’d like a Jumpstart I cannot suggest the 2015 Jumpstart Bundle enough! It’ll really help you knock this year out of the park!
with love & blessings,
